Bishop Carney is a native of Kinston, NC. He is the husband to Doris W. Carney and they have been married for the past 40 years. They have three adult children, twelve grandchildren and one and great-grandchild.
He was educated in the public school of Kinston and furthered his education at Shaw Divinity School in Raleigh, NC; University of Florida, Gainesville FL; and Anthony School of Arts, Neola, West Virginia.
Bishop Carney has been instrumental in building and remodeling several churches in which many great pastors and leaders have arrived. Thousands have been saved under this ministry. He has been saved for 37 years and pastoring for the past 30 years.
In December 2003, God saw the need to call First Lady Doris Carney into the ministry to work with her husband and to further the work of the gospel. Together, they have said "Yes" to the calling of God to begin building Deliverance Village Crisis Center to provide service to the needs of battered women, unwed mothers and mentally challenged children.
In November 2005, Bishop Carney became the newest member of Angier's political realm. He has been re-elected Commissioner and Mayor Pro Tem for the Town of Angier.
